After my winge about Workday application forms—and a tongue-in-cheek joke to an esteemed colleague—I’ve had several people ask: “What prompt would generate the code for a bot to complete a Workday application?”
Well… here’s the whole thing. Fill your boots.
But before diving in: I’m not advocating transgressing any T&Cs, nor encouraging the use of bots on platforms where it’s explicitly prohibited. There are also IP considerations around the responses generated. So while I’m happy to share the prompts, I’m less comfortable sharing the responses in detail.
🔁 Prompt Trail + Summary
🟡 Prompt: “I need support for automatically completing Workday job application forms. How can you support me?” 💬 Response Summary: Options were presented—from full RPA to the simpler route of using browser autofill, which might get you 70% of the way with zero code.
🟡 Prompt: “Target Option = Browser Automation with RPA Tool. Please use Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools to simulate my actions.” 💬 Response Summary: Suggests using Power Automate Desktop and asks if I want a starter template.
🟡 Prompt: “I’d like a Power Automate Desktop starter template for Workday-style forms and want to create a universal application bot framework across multiple job portals.” 💬 Response Summary: Explains the automation structure, pre-requisites, and bot workflow. Offers to create a .pad file.
🟡 Prompt: “Please create a downloadable Full PAD File.” 💬 Response Summary: Bot logic defined further—awaiting input variables.
🟡 Prompt: Input file = Excel; Workday application form example = https://company/wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/ Example label fields = [full list of form fields including repeated entries like Languages1, WorkExperience1, etc.]
💬 Response Summary: Generates a downloadable Excel input template containing all fields.
🟡 Prompt: “Please be aware that fields with numeric suffixes (e.g., Languages1, Languages2) can repeat and require an ‘Add Item’ button to be clicked, often using JavaScript or AJAX.” 💬 Response Summary: Confirms and explains use of nested loops, detection of repeatable blocks, and dynamic button clicks. Then requests confirmation to go ahead and generate the PAD file.
🟡 Prompt: “Confirmed.” 💬 Response Summary: A .pad file (Power Automate Desktop) is created and shared for download, along with deployment instructions.
💡 Final Thought
Given the nature and complexity of the bot design, actually making it production-ready remains the IP of Red Parachute Ltd / GhostGen.AI.
If you’re experimenting with automation to reduce repetitive admin (and staying within platform terms), this might give you a head start.
